Send files from ChatGPT with Golden Drop
Golden Drop gives ChatGPT a practical final-mile file handoff: when a file is available to the Golden tool call, ChatGPT can ask Golden to deliver it and return a temporary browser link.
How do I send a file from ChatGPT?
Connect Golden Terminal in ChatGPT, then ask ChatGPT to share the finished file with a temporary download link. Golden exposes the built-in share_files capability through the same connection; there is no separate Golden Drop app or MCP server to configure.
ChatGPT→Golden→share_files→recipient URLFrom ChatGPT output to recipient download
- Connect Golden.Use the normal Golden connection in ChatGPT. File delivery is part of that connection.
- Create or prepare the file.Ask ChatGPT to produce the report, archive, image, export or other artifact you actually need.
- Ask to share it.Say “Share the final file with a temporary download link” or an equivalent outcome-oriented request.
- Send the returned URL.The recipient opens it in a browser and downloads the file without signing into Golden.
Ask for the delivery outcome
Share the final PDF with a temporary download link.Bundle the generated CSV and charts into one archive and send me the link.Deliver only the final build artifact. Do not include temporary files or credentials. You do not need to mention Golden Drop by name if the intent is clearly file delivery.
File delivery does not require Golden Agent
If the file already exists in the ChatGPT/Golden tool workflow, a connected computer is unnecessary. Golden Agent becomes relevant only when ChatGPT must first work with a local computer or server.
For example: ChatGPT can use Golden Terminal to build a release on a connected machine, then use Golden Drop to deliver the resulting ZIP.
What to expect from the current delivery
One file is delivered unchanged. Multiple supplied files are bundled into a ZIP.
If ChatGPT cannot deliver the file
- Confirm Golden is connected in the ChatGPT conversation.
- Confirm the file is actually available to the tool call rather than only described in prose.
- Reduce the delivery if a file exceeds the current 100 MiB limit.
- For several outputs, ask ChatGPT to deliver them together so Golden can create one ZIP.
- If the work must happen on a computer first, connect Golden Terminal to that device before asking for delivery.
A Drop link is not a ChatGPT conversation link or permanent drive share
Sharing the ChatGPT conversation exposes conversation context, not a clean standalone file-delivery artifact. A Golden Drop URL points to the delivered file itself and expires independently of the conversation.
Likewise, Drop does not create a persistent folder, team library or version history. If the recipient needs ongoing access, download the artifact and place it in the appropriate durable system.
ChatGPT file delivery questions
Does ChatGPT need a local Golden Agent to send the file?
No, not when the file is already available to the Golden tool call.
Can a recipient download without ChatGPT?
Yes. The active Golden Drop URL is an ordinary browser-facing download handoff.
What if the URL expires?
Create a new delivery from the source artifact if access is still authorized and needed.
Treat the returned URL as private
The recipient does not authenticate, so possession of the active link grants download access. Send it in the same kind of private channel you would use for the file itself, and do not use Golden Drop for raw secrets.
