AI File Delivery guides
Use these guides to move from a finished AI artifact to a temporary recipient-ready download without inventing a new storage workflow.
Choose the guide by the job you are trying to finish
Start here if an AI produced a report, image, archive, export or other finished artifact and you need a simple temporary link.
CHATGPTSend files from ChatGPTUse Golden from ChatGPT and return a recipient-ready URL without pairing a computer just for file delivery.
LINKSUnderstand temporary download linksLearn what expiry means, why the URL must be treated as private and when permanent storage is a better fit.
AGENTSAI agent file deliveryDesign agent-to-human or workflow-to-workflow handoffs without pasting binary content into the conversation.
MCPMCP file delivery with share_filesUnderstand the Golden tool contract, multi-file ZIP behavior and why Drop does not need a separate MCP connection.
Which workflow fits?
| I have one finished AI file | Share AI-generated files |
|---|---|
| I am working in ChatGPT | Send files from ChatGPT |
| I need to understand expiry/privacy | Temporary links for AI files |
| I am designing an agent workflow | AI agent file delivery |
| I need the MCP/tool contract | MCP file delivery |
Every guide follows the same product boundary
The file is already available to the Golden tool call.
share_files creates the temporary delivery.
No Drop account is required to download the active file.
Golden Agent is optional. It becomes relevant only when the AI must first work on a connected computer or server.
Four rules before sharing
- Share the exact artifact.Prefer one reviewed file or archive over a broad folder dump.
- Keep secrets out.Do not use temporary file delivery for raw credentials.
- Treat the link as private.Anyone with the active URL can retrieve the file.
- Use permanent storage for retention.Golden Drop is intentionally short-lived.
What people actually deliver from AI workflows
Deliver a finished report, generated document or exported dataset to the person who asked for it.
BUILD & EVIDENCEArchives, build outputs and evidence packagesHand off a build, screenshots, diagnostics or a review package without turning chat into binary transport.
MULTI-FILEBundle related outputs into one ZIPUse one delivery operation for one logical handoff when several related files belong together.
SHORT-LIVED ACCESSUse an expiring link instead of a permanent folderChoose temporary delivery when the artifact only needs a short review or download window.
File delivery and machine access are different jobs
Use Golden Drop
when the AI already has the finished file and the remaining job is to give a person or authorized workflow a temporary download link.
Use Golden Terminal first
when the AI still needs to read local files, run a build, collect logs, export data or create the artifact on a computer or server.
The two products use the same Golden connection. That means a workflow can act on a machine and then deliver the resulting file without introducing a second Drop-specific MCP connection.
Common Golden Drop questions
What is temporary file sharing?
Temporary file sharing makes a file available through a link for a limited period instead of keeping the handoff permanently reachable. Golden Drop applies that model specifically to AI-created or AI-handled artifacts.
Does the recipient need an account?
No. The active private URL is enough for the recipient to open the download page and retrieve the file.
Can Golden Drop replace Google Drive, Dropbox or a team document system?
No. Use permanent storage when you need collaboration, named-user permissions, version history, folders or long-term retention. Drop is optimized for short-lived delivery.
Can an AI send several files at once?
Yes. The current Golden share_files path accepts up to 20 supplied files. Multiple files are delivered as one ZIP.
What happens if a link expires before the recipient downloads it?
Create a new delivery from the source artifact. Expired links are not intended to become permanent references.
Is the link itself sensitive?
Yes. The recipient does not authenticate, so possession of the active high-entropy URL grants temporary download access. Send it only through an appropriate channel.
